Marilyn Szabo

               Growing up in the heart of American history – Norfolk, Virginia, Marilyn Szabo began a life long interest in history and photography. She received a BA/History from Virginia Commonwealth University with a minor in Photography. She has worked for twenty five years as a photographer. Her photographic subjects vary from people to architecture to landscape, and the work has been praised for its depth, craftsmanship and versatility. Szabo’s successful virtuoso range of themes include images of Maria Callas, unconventional landscapes such as “X’s and O’s: Dreamtime”, “Jessica’s Wedding” and the “Mermaid”. She has been published Black and White, Focus, and Sun Magazine. Her work is represented in many collections throughout the United States. Alligator Juniper, a national literary magazine, awarded Szabo the 2010 National Photography Award an the cover. She has received five arts commission awards and has had numerous one person shows.

                  In 2003, Marilyn was hired by Alliance Bank of Arizona founding president and CEO, James H. Lundy, to curate an ever-growing photography exhibition, At Work in Arizona, for the banks offices and branches. In 2014, At Work in Arizona, a 168 page book was published. The book was curated by Marilyn Szabo, with over 200 images chosen from 350 images in the collection.
